Men in this Town Book Feature by andrew morales

I had the honor of being featured in Giuseppe Santamaria's new book, Men in this Town: Alone in a Crowd. This collection includes contemporary urban looks, traditional sartorial style and everything in between from 2014-2016 starting in New York and ending in Toronto. Alone in a Crowd, Giuseppe's third title, once again turns the spotlight on men's fashion in cities around the world.

Gallery Show by andrew morales

I recently had the opportunity to showcase my work alongside chapeau designer Rene Mantilla. The motivation behind this series was taking suiting to a sexy place. I took some of my grandfather's suits and decided to modernize them with the wardrobe styling, photography & lighting. I was luckily enough to have a few of my industry friends come and make it happen.

The Everyday Backpack #PeakDesign by andrew morales

I'm always in search of a stylish, sleek yet functional camera backpack. This time I teamed up with Peak Design to showcase my new favorite. The Everyday Backpack. Not only is the design dope, but the compartmentalization and accessibility options are the best I've encountered. I usually over-pack my bag so the additional padding is tremendous. I no longer feel the weight on my shoulders. This is a great investment for any level photographer looking to keep their gear safe in style.

GIVEAWAY below

Follow along on Instagram for our giveaway of the CaptureLENS. Wear CaptureLENS on any backpack strap, belt or bag keeping your spare lens quickly accessible and freeing up the inside of your bag for other gear. EVERY photographer should have this.

NYFWM Day 1 Recap by andrew morales

When selecting an outfit, I start from the top. Thankfully I was able to once again work with the super talented Marc Williamson of FlameKeepers Hat Club on a few custom hats especially for this week. For the first day, I paired it with a denim jumpsuit and a pair of all white Eleventy kicks.

The Mens Spring/Summer collections were set for July 10-13th with over 50 shows and presentations. Monday was spent at Dune Studios catching 12 presentations. I was able to gain a bunch of great content and meet the talented designers and stylists behind it all. You can check out my highlight video and presentation photos below.

Weatherproof by andrew morales

For my second collaboration with Stutterheim I decided to take the rain head on. I wanted to test the durability of both their backpack and classic raincoat in some rainy New York weather so we took to the roof of my studio. All of my gear in the Storvik backpack remained dry throughout the shoot. It has a great minimalistic look that compliments the jacket perfectly. The Stockholm Coat is offered in a wide variety of colors and is a staple piece everyone should own. Each coat is individually quality controlled by their skilled seamstresses. I love this pairing especially for Fashion Week when I'm looking to leave the umbrella at home.

Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic by andrew morales

DSC_7308.jpg

Yesterday I had the opportunity to cover the the Vueve Clicquot Polo Classic at Liberty State Park with fashion blogger Buhle (@BooSlay_) . It was my first polo game & it was an exciting one. Our Rosé Garden tickets included lounge seating, a bottle of Vueve Clicquot Rosé, gourmet lunch, as well as priority access to Alicia Keys' performance (which was incredible). In addition to shooting for Buhle, I was able to capture some "Polo Style" in the galleries below. Some of my favorites are featured on my Instagram .

Charlamagne Tha God Cover Shoot by Life In Reverie by andrew morales

Recently I had the privilege of shooting Charlamagne Tha God for MADE Magazine.  I've been listening to/watching Charlamagne for years. If you are unfamiliar with him, he is a Radio & TV Personality, most notably for New York's Power 105.1's "The Breakfast Club." I admire his work because he is not afraid to say what's on his mind. He recently released his first book titled Black Privilege: Opportunity Comes To Those Who Create It. This book contains so many life lessons, I highly recommend it, regardless if you know anything about Hip Hop or the Radio business. Charlamagne is a raw and necessary voice for our generation.

Like most jobs in the fashion industry this came up last minute. Just 4 days before the shooting date. But opportunities like this are why I test shoot frequently. I had one my interns Dante Corbett come to assist on the shoot. Not only did he assist with lighting and transport of equipment, but he also captured some BTS shots from the shoot (see gallery below). I used a 3 light setup for shooting, and kept skin retouching to a minimum. We wanted a natural look.

The Best In Le Marais #LesTournelles by andrew morales

Les Tournelles is located in the heart of Le Marais district and it is close to everything - Place de Vosges, metro station, bus stops, parks, cafes and restaurants surround the hotel. The hotel is very clean, well decorated, and gives off a boho vibe throughout. Next to the reception, they have a lounge with an "honesty bar" and chic decor. With a classy and minimalistic approach to design coupled with unparalleled customer service, Les Tournelles is exactly the perfect combination of staying in a big city while feeling right at home. Compliments to all of the staff who are discreet yet extremely professional in servicing their clients and anticipating their every needs.

The Lively Montmartre, Paris by andrew morales

Montmartre is one of my favorite areas in Paris. Hotel Basss was my first choice of hotels in this area. We received a very friendly welcome at check-in and they let us in our room early. The location is amazing, perfectly positioned in Montemarte. You can walk out the front door and have a range of delicious and fresh food, restaurants and bars. We didn't even have a chance to try it all. I also did all my souvenir shopping a few blocks away from the hotel, there were tons of great shops.

The Theatrical #HôtelSacha by andrew morales

Hotel Sacha is located in the heart of Paris with lot of attractions and shops around. Beautiful inside and out. As a photographer I had a deep appreciation for the decor throughout the hotel and even used the walls as backdrops for shooting (see photos).

Overall, I would definitely return! This hotel is in a great location and the staff are fantastic, delivering a top quality service in this theatrically themed hotel. Thanks for having us.

Views from Hôtel Mansart by andrew morales

I traveled to Paris for Women's Fashion Week with a business partner and we started the trip at Hotel Mansart. I booked their Junior Suite which was massive! The location is fantastic - a few steps from Place Vendome, walking distance to Jardin Tuileries, river Siene, shopping street at Rue Saint Honore, and a metro stop at place de la Concorde. The lobby and common areas of the hotel are chic, comfortable and inviting. The location is perfect for shopping, dining and sightseeing. It really was a 5-10 minute walk to tons of shops and sights.

I will stay here again! Thanks so much for having us.

NYFW (Photography for WWD) by andrew morales

My photo of A$AP Rocky

As you may or may not know I freelance for WWD. It has changed the trajectory of my career. They've given me incredible opportunities over the past year. Most recently, I had the chance to shoot street style for New York Mens and Women's Fashion Week. I started shooting "Street Style" around 8 years ago so this was a moment I've been waiting for. Stay tuned and check out the gallery here.

Artisan & Artist by andrew morales

I recently had the opportunity to collaborate with Artisan&Artist. Not only do they design camera bags, but also straps, body cases and other accessories. The creator/designer Seiichiro Hangui, a photographer himself shows great attention to detail. This backpack is for the artist looking for a compact carrying solution with lots of protection for your gear. All while doing it in style.

When I first saw these I knew I had to get my hands on a pair! Introducing the Special Field Air Force 1, designed for urban utility with durable ballistic nylon, hidden espionage tongue storage and removable paracord ankle straps that attach to an exclusive Special Field tote bag. This is a new generation of force.

Mauricio and I shot these in Virginia prior to a wedding we were covering. My event work is primarily through WWD or by referral.

Paris Thrifting by andrew morales

Vintage blazer selection at Kilo Shop

Photos by Azari

Once Paris Fashion Week was over I had to check out the thrifting scene. Fellow photographer, and Paris native Azari showed me some awesome places with great deals. My favorite was probably Kilo Shop, which had set prices based on the weight of your items. I picked up two overcoats which are pictured above and below. On my next trip I'll be sure to pack light.

Hotel De France Invalides by andrew morales

Very artistic lighting throughout the hotel

Upon entering Hotel France De Invalides I couldn't help but notice the vibrant colors and design in the lobby. I knew I checked into the right place immediately! The bar on the main floor was a great touch. And the complimentary breakfast selection was delicious. The central location made it easy to commute anywhere and was in walking distance to Les Invalides, and the Eiffel Tower.

I stayed here during a very busy time, Paris Fashion Week and the staff were all very kind, helpful and accommodating. Great service is hard to find! I had an incredible time and I will definitely be back!

A Room With A View #TrianonRiveGauche by andrew morales

We had an amazing time at Trianon Rive Gauche. The superior room with the balcony is the best choice when booking. When I wasn't covering shows for fashion week, I was on the balcony editing photos. It was also great for having a a drink and taking in the marvelous city.

The deep red decor added a warm vibe and is great for couples. I would highly recommend Trianon Rive Gauche to anyone interested in a romantic room coupled with excellent service and a great location.

Commencing Paris Fashion Week at Hotel Gustave by andrew morales

REV_5373.jpg

As we walked into Hotel Gustave, I was immediately drawn to the décor. The graphic black and white patterns throughout the entranceway were enhanced by pops of color found in the furniture and artwork. The warm and polite staff members made us feel at home instantly. Upon entrance to our room, we found a delicious complimentary bottle of champagne. The room at Hotel Gustave was the perfect blend of modernism and Parisian flair. Once settled, we prepared for a walk around the surroundings of the hotel. We were ecstatic to discover the Eiffel Tower was in walking distance from our location. I would highly recommend a romantic stroll or family adventure to this momentous landmark to anyone. The next morning, we enjoyed a delicious brunch. Overall, our stay was extremely memorable.
